Aaron “Ike” Leon Walker, 78, born April 21, 1947, in Highland County, Ohio, passed away on December 3, 2025. Ike is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Catherine Walker, and five brothers and sisters: David, Daryl, John, Nancy, Carol, and sister-in-law Janet.
A Vietnam veteran, Ike lived a life built on strength, commitment, love, and connection. He was a Union iron worker for local 172, known for his knowledge and work ethic, always taking pride in getting the job done and doing things the right way. He passed on a legacy of knowledge, skill, and an example that continues to live on through the hands and work of his children and their families.
Ike’s greatest joy was his family – whom all felt the love he shared with each one of them. Ike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula (Beebe) Walker, his children Kelly (Zac) Neff and Scott (Sarah) Walker, grandchildren Matthew (Andie), Bradley, and Olivia Walker, and Molly Neff, and great-grandsons Levi and Brigham Walker. One of eight siblings, Ike is also survived by two of his brothers Dale (Robin) Walker and Dennis (June) Walker, sister-in-law Jeanine Walker, three brothers-in-law Parker (Susan) Beebe, Kevin (Debbie) Beebe, and Mike (Kelly) Beebe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His grandchildren will forever remember his classic “grandpa jokes”- “What’s behind your ear?”, a quarter always magically appearing, “I got your nose”, and it was just his thumb poking through the fist of his hand. His teasing, his love for sweets, his warmth, and his mischievous grin are simple things that turned into big memories that will never fade from those he loved.
Ike was most at home anytime he was surrounded by friends and family. He spent countless days and hours hanging out at Napa and the tire shop- where he was a fixture and everyone seemed to know him. Many looked forward to seeing him there, to hear his voice, his laughter, and the stories he carried like old familiar friends. Whether he was chatting at the tire shop, stopping by Napa, on the golf course, or at the VFW, Ike’s presence was something people cherished. He had a gift of turning everyday moments and conversations into connections.
Ike left a legacy of service, strength, and love. He will always be remembered for his hard work, his wittiness, his kindness, and the ways he made others feel welcomed, loved, and valued. His life touched many and his absence will be felt just as deeply.
We will be remembering Ike’s life at Porter Tidd Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm. Funeral service immediately following at 12pm with Bill Warner officiating. Burial to follow at Pleasant Cemetery.
