Artie (Art) McCann
October 3, 1947 – July 5, 2026
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Artie McCann, a devoted father, proud grandfather, United States Navy veteran, owner of McCann’s Heating & Cooling, and a friend to many.
Born on October 3, 1947, Artie entered the world as one of 13 children and was part of the first set of triplets born in Columbus, Ohio. Growing up in such a large family helped shape the hardworking, resilient, and generous man he would become. He shared a lifelong bond with his sister, Minnie, and her husband, Chuck, who remained among his closest family throughout his life.
Art proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a service he carried with pride throughout his life.
Following his military service, Art founded McCann’s Heating & Cooling, where he built a respected business known for honest work, dependable service, and treating every customer like a neighbor.
When he wasn’t working, Art could often be found in the garage. He had a lifelong passion for cars—especially classic muscle cars—and loved restoring, repairing, and talking about them. He was happiest with a wrench in his hand and an engine to work on.
Art was known for his generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need. If someone needed a hand, Art was there. He believed in hard work, keeping his word, and doing what was right. If he had an opinion, you were going to hear it—and that’s exactly how those who loved him will remember him. His honesty, strong work ethic, and unwavering loyalty made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Above all else, Art loved his family. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather, and a man whose greatest accomplishments were the people he loved.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Tiffeny McCann; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Kenny Francis; his beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Alyssa, Haleigh, Aaron, Kaleb, Keanan, Dean, Kayla, Evan, and Reagan; several great-grandchildren; his loving sister, Minnie Rannenbarger, and her husband, Chuck; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends, including two lifelong buddies, Mike and Bill, who were always there when he needed them.
In keeping with Art’s wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. Instead, family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on SATURDAY, JULY 18, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street,i Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143. United States Naval Hinors will be rendered at 4:00 p.m.
Art measured his life not by what he had, but by the people he helped, the work he was proud of, and the family he loved. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.
