Betty Oldenburg, age 80, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Betty was born in Layland (Beckley) West Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Elmer; son, Art; daughter, Penny (Andy) Higgins; grandchildren, Ian and Graham; brother Gerald (Wendy) Beaver; sister, Susie Swaggerty; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Chuck (Candy), Curt (Barb), and Tom (Sheila) Swaggerty.
She was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey and Gerald; her parents, Irene and Lewis Beaver; and brothers and sisters, Charlie, Edith, Lilly, Gladys, James (Bevo), Lora Fay, Lewis, and Nathan.
Betty was a loving wife and mother who, over the years, served God by being a Sunday school teacher and a church volunteer. She was employed by 7Up Bottling Company of Columbus, Ohio and the First United Methodist Church Day Care and Preschool Center of Mt. Sterling. Betty especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. These include all of her special church family at Oakland Park Chapel and the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene. Thank you for your love and support over the years.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Joe Proudfoot and Rev. Dortha Ross officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm. The family is being served by the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, 226 N. Market St., Mt. Sterling, OH., 43143.
