Billy Joe Spradlin, age 45, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
A lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, Billy was known for his candy-apple red Camaro and award-winning Christmas lights display. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Knights of Pythias at their annual fish fry. Billy overcame many challenges in his short life and serves as an example of determination and courage to many who knew him.
Preceded in death by grandparents, Thurman (Bessie) Spradlin and Billy Peterson.
Survived by parents Ken and Sandy Spradlin; grandmother Inez Peterson; sister Tami (TJ) Braden; brothers Brian (Jaimi) Spradlin and Todd (Paul Buchanan); nephews, Nathan Caudill and Derek Spradlin; nieces, Brandy (Jason) Cook, Betsy (Tommy) Pauley, Nicole Kirt and Natalie Caudill; many aunts, uncles, cousins and Best Friend Chris (Shari) Riser.
Family will receive friends at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main St., Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 5 – 7 p.m. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12th at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dortha Ross officiating with the interment in Pleasant Cemetery. Fellowship for family and friends immediately following at the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Pythias Talmadge Lodge #194. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
