With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carlos Ooten, a vibrant soul who left us on March 3rd, 2026, at the age of 64. Carlos was a force of nature, remembered for his undeniable personality, unwavering determination, and inescapable charm. He was a beacon of light, a straight-shooter, and a maker of everyday miracles.
Carlos found joy in life's simple pleasures: the thrill of motorcycle rides on a beautiful day, the excitement of pocket aces at the poker table, and the satisfaction of crafting the most incredible pizza you've ever tasted. He possessed a rare gift for soothing souls, offering humor, wit, and warmth to those around him. Strong and dependable, he was always the one others turned to for support.
He is reunited with his brother in spirit and adventure, Jeff Bloomer, as well as his brother, Alex Ooten; his sister, Perry Ooten; and his parents, Willie & Nellie Ooten.
Carlos leaves behind his beloved wife, Shannon, and a legacy of love through his many children, both by blood and of the heart: Dwayne, Andrea, Timothy, Justine, Thomas, and Kaitlyn. He was a father-figure and mentor to countless others, too numerous to name. He is also survived by his siblings Deborah Ooten, Duffy Ooten, and David Riley, his adoring grandchildren, and a multitude of loved ones whose lives he touched during his sixty-four wild, magical, and story-worthy years.
Visitation will be held on SATURDAY, March 7, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM, with Funeral Services to immediately follow visitation at 4:00 PM, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. MAIN STREET, MOUNT STERLING, OH, 43143.
Carlos's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
