Carol L. Bowshier

Carol Louise Bowshier, age 67, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 24th 2026. She was born on December 28th 1958 in Elyria, Ohio, and spent her life raising a family, traveling with friends and family, working for AFSCME & OCSEA, caring for others, and serving the community members of Mount Sterling and Madison County at large. She was known for her kindness, intelligence, strength, wit, generosity, and dedication. Those who knew her will remember her for her ability to tell great stories, her passion for the betterment of the public employees of the state of Ohio, and her ability to light up a room whenever she entered.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years Denis Bowshier, children Kerianne Bowshier, Johnathan (Kristen) Bowshier, and Spencer Bowshier, grandson Bryce Bowshier, brother John Tong, sister-in-law, Denise Bowshier, brothers-in-law John (Trisha) Bowshier and Herbert (Sandra) Bowshier, nieces Ruthie Tong, Emily Tong, Kora Logan, Shannon (Rick) Pandy, and Christan Bowshier, nephews J.T. Tong, Benjamin Tong, Nathan Muncy, and Ian Bowshier and many loving extended family members, friends, former colleagues, and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by parents John Tong and Ruth Miller, brothers Byron Tong, Gary Tong, and Robert Tong, and nephews Ryan Muncy and Ronnie Lee Ryan.

Above all, Carol loved her family, friends, camping, going to the beach, chatting with those who brought her joy, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

THe family will welcome friends from 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m. on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2026 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 (740)-869-2777 where her Memorial Service will follow the visitation hours and begin at 2:00p.m. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2026. Immediately after the service, friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Mt. Sterling Community Center, 164 East Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143.
