Charles Eugene Shannon, age 90 of Orient passed away on January 8, 2015. He was born September 26, 1924 in West Jefferson. He was the son of Orville J. and Anna (Billman) Shannon.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Russell and Tom, and grandson Scott Writsel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Potter who he married on 2/15/1948; children Jeanne (Doug) Anderson, Becky (Jay) Writsel, Rocky (Patti) Shannon; grandchildren Nathan Reid, Bethany Reid Schweitzer, Michele Writsel-Lopez, Stacey Writsel Sark, Brad Shannon, Kristy Shannon, Becky Shannon Justus, Chip Shannon; sister Janice Carnes; sisters-in-law Mary Ellen Shannon and Patty Shannon; many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main St., Mt. Sterling, OH. 43143. Family members will officiate the service which includes Manny Lopez, Scott Schweitzer, Chip Shannon and Jeanne Anderson. The interment will follow in Darbyville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 4 - 7 pm.
Family suggest memorial contributions to Sterling Joint Ambulance District P.O.Box 23, Mt. Sterling, OH. 43143; Lyons Club of Grove City; or Mount Carmel Hospice 793 West State St., Columbus, OH. 43222-9988.
