Dolores J Hartzell

Dolores J. Hartzell, age 85, of Mount Sterling, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 11, 2015. She was born on April 27th, 1930 in Logan County, West Virginia. She was a member of the Chillicothe Seventh Day Adventist Church and an Ohio Bell Telephone Company retiree. She was a kind person who helped many people by opening the doors to her home and collecting and distributing food and clothing to the needy. Her special hobby was crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Anna S. Pennington; her beloved husband of 50 plus years, Donald, in 2008; brother, Robert L. Pennington; sisters, Virginia A. Frye, and Mary E. Pennington. Dolores is survived by three sons, Donald R. Hartzell, Jr., Randall (Michelle) Hartzell, and Michael W. Hartzell; siblings, Carol (Thomas) Pressley, Cheryl (William) Shively, and William (Barbara) Pennington; grandchildren, Jason Hartzell, Katie Hartzell, and Erin Hartzell; in-laws, Hercie Frye, Shirley Pennington, Betty (Hank) Richards, Jacqueline Hartzell, Patsy (David) McRoberts, and Kenneth (Linda) Hartzell. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank homecare aide, Sherry Rhoade for all of her care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 12pm, at PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main Street, Mount Sterling, OH 43143. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.
