Dorothy Deane Stockman

Dorothy D. (Downs) Stockman, age 93, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family while fighting a brave battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a loyal Methodist and retired from the State of Ohio. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all those whose life she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Hazel (Warren) Hunter; her loving husbands Roger Stockman, and Howard (Jake) Downs; siblings Norma, Sara, Robert, John, and Dick.

Dorothy is survived by her children River Downs, Sally Wells, Robin Downs (Kevin Merritt), Regina Brill (John Walker), and Sammy Boyd; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous loving relatives and friends.

The family will welcome friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M., a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main Street, Mount Sterling, Ohio, 43143. Private Inurnment Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio, 43143.
