Edwin Francis Sullivan, age 87 of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the Meadow Grove Transitional Facility shortly after the end of the Super Bowl game, surrounded by his family. Ed was born to the late Francis E. and Marguerite Sullivan on August 23, 1930 in Madison County, Ohio. Preceded in death by loving wife of 41 years, Jacqueline Kies Sullivan; brother, Bob Sullivan. He is survived by children Debbie Angles (Gary); Pat Sullivan (Danna); Mike Sullivan (Deb); Pete Sullivan (Lisa); grandchildren, Jed Sullivan (Jessica); Andrea Sullivan; Bart Sullivan (Terin); Kelly Garrett (Brian); Patrick O Sullivan; Parker O Sullivan; Hayley Sullivan; Ashley Minnick; and Brooks Minnick; great-grandchildren, Beau; Hunter; Zoey; Norah and Harley; sister, Mary Teresa Sherman; brother, Bill Sullivan (LaVern); sister-in-law, Janet Sullivan; niece, Joy Sullivan; nephews, great-nephews, great niece, numerous cousins; and his best buddy Huxley. Ed graduated from Mt. Sterling High School in 1948 and attended The Ohio State University; a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War; retired from General Motors after 33 years; 64 year member of the American Legion Post #417; founding member and first president of the Mud Run Hustlers 4H Club; he was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes, and horse races; earlier he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf and for many years he served Meals on Wheels. A Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Billy Warner officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #417, 27 Clark Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143 or Mt. Sterling Community Center, 164 E. Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143.
