Howard Downs

Howard E.”Jake” Downs , age 82, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born on March 27, 1930 in Fayette County; graduate of Mt. Sterling H.S. Class of 1948; U.S. Army Sergeant serving in the Korean War from 1948-1952; recepient of two Purple Hearts; beloved father, son, grandfather, and brother. Preceded in death by his mother Viola Devoss, father George Downs, and stepfather Delbert Devoss. Survived by sister Sharon Downs, half-brother David Devoss, son Greg R. Downs, daughters Sally (Robert) Wells, Robin Downs, Regina Brill, and Sammy (Norman) Boyd, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Larry Fenorchipo, Nikki Tilley, Sara Southworth and John Walker. Family will receive friends Saturday from 10 am-12 pm at The Porter-Tidd Funeral Home 331 W. Main St. Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 where a memorial service will be held at 12 pm with Rev. Dortha Ross officiating.
