Johnny J. Delay

Johnny J. Delay, age 85, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Pike County, Ohio to the late Manford and Shirley (Davis) Delay, Johnny was a veteran of the United States Army, Reserves. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ellen B. Delay, who passed in 2018. Ellen and Johnny were married February 14, 1959 and together they ran Delay Farms. In addition to his wife and parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister Maxine Kuntz, brother-in-law William “Tip” Robinson, his son-in-law Larry Furlong, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Annalee Belt.

Johnny is survived by sisters: Norma (Gary) Hidy and Gloria Robinson, all of Mt. Sterling; his children: Cassandra Furlong, of Sun City Center, FL, Brenda (Richard Groetzinger) Delay, of Mt. Sterling, and Todd (Sue) Delay, of Delaware, OH; grandchildren: Bradley (Erin) Furlong, of Dayton, OH, Sarah (Kurt) Eichorn, of Delaware, OH, and Emily (Brett) Drake, of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren: Jake Eichorn, Abigail Eichorn, Mitchell Eichorn, and Lauren Eichorn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob (Nancy) Belt, Jane Belt, and David Belt. Family will receive friends from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. WEDNESDAY at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 (740)-869-2777 where his Funeral Service will be held 10:00a.m. THURSDAY, JUNE 12, 2025. Johnny will be laid to rest beside his wife Ellen at Madison Mills Cemetery, Madison Mills, OH.
