Died: 21st September, 2014 in the Mt. Carmel Hospital West, Franklin County, Ohio at 3:30 pm.
Joyce Lynn (Spangler) Depugh was born to Lemuel E. "Sam" and Maralyn J. (Bogenrife) Spangler on 28th November, 1946 in Madison Co., Ohio off of St. Rt. 38. She was married on 8th September, 1965 in Mt. Sterling, Ohio to Rodger D. Depugh. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, John Dale Depugh; and an infant daughter, Robin Lynn Depugh.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years; a son, Craig S. (Sandy) Depugh; a son, Chad B. Depugh; a daughter, Cara Lynn Depugh; a brother, David (Lori) Spangler; and a sister, Rhonda (Joseph) Jackson. She also leaves behind an Aunt and Uncle, Mrs. Frank (Doris) Dixon; an Aunt, Mary E. Garret; an Aunt, Betty Bogenrife; a great-Aunt, Aileen McKinley; several nieces and nephews; several cousins; a special friend, Susan Doyle and many close friends.
"Joyce loved to be around people and they soon come to love her. She never knew a stranger and treated all the same and over the years, she made many friends. Not many who had met her could walk away without, not having at least one story in which to tell about her. She often spoke her mind and did as she thought fit with great enthusiasm and zest. She put her family first and made many sacrifices and efforts to see they were successful in some of the things that matter the most in the world: Love, respect, compassion, empathy, and happiness. She had a way about her that is hard to sum in just a few words, but when experienced, that character and personality would stick and be with you for ever more. Not many could out talk her or get much past her, and as her children, we learned that when she was quiet, it was time to let her be. Always - "Love life and live to Love" She died in touch and surrounded by her family and friends. She now rests in heaven; Most likely a greeter at the Pearly Gates next to St. Peter. She will.... be sorely missed."
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Dortha Ross officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ohio. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm.
