Kenneth Ray Johnson, age 66, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. He was the son of the late Arthur and Katherine Johnson. He was born August 28, 1947 in Washington Court House, Ohio.
He was an active member of the Mt. Sterling Freewill Baptist Church. Kenny loved hunting, fishing and Halloween campout at Deer Creek State Park where he served as VIP for many years. He always enjoyed going to his son’s restaurant, The Thirsty Goat, to help out in the kitchen and entertain customers. He never did meet a stranger.
Preceded in death by his parents; Shirley (Pennington) Johnson whom he was married to for 25 years; brothers Clark Johnson, Otis Johnson, and Arthur “Don” Johnson, aunts and uncle whom he lived during his childhood, Opal (Otis) Remy, Dessie Johnson, and Ethel Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Johnson; sisters Linda Cummings and Patty (Bill) Stout of Mt. Sterling; brothers, Michael (Kathryn) Johnson of Washington Court House and Keith (Karen) Johnson of Bloomingburg; aunt, Loretta Johnson of Mt. Sterling, sons, Scott “Goat” Johnson of Mt. Sterling, Jeffrey “Pnut” (Jodi) Clifton of New Holland, Bruce Johnson of Washington Court House and Brian Johnson of Good Hope; step-children, Bonita (Steve) Drennan) Rivera, Thomas Church, and Barbara Church of Columbus, and Nancy Church of London; grandchildren, Zachary Johnson, Bryce Clifton, Christopher Clifton, Einn White, Xander White, Dalton Bartley, Nathan Rivera, and Katie Jo Drennan; great-grandchildren, Caden Clifton and Madelyn Clifton; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Roy) Hatfield, Carolyn (Jim) Ball and brother-in-law, Robert (Debbie) Clifton; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Densil Wright officiating with the burial following in Pleasant Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers family will graciously accept donations to assist with final expenses.
