Leslie Williams, age 97, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011. Born in 1914 in Greenup, KY to Lee Moreland and Daisy Yates Williams. He was a member and a Deacon of The Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from Montgomery Ward and also from South West City Schools in Columbus, OH. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 63 years, Pearlie Holbert Williams; son, Billy Joe Williams; daughter, Shirley Williams Elliott; granddaughter, Christy Elliott Winters Anderson; great granddaughter, Rebecca Rowland; great grandson, Alexander Crawford; step-father, Columbia Brown; brothers, Leonard, Alvis (Scoot), and Lee Williams; sisters, Melvina Billett, Estella Bradley, Dorothy (Dot) Jennings Ashley, and half-sister, Helen Brown Cline. Survived by his second wife, Viola Jane Bogenrife Williams of Mt. Sterling, OH; daughters, Daisy Rowland and Ervin Smith of Hillsboro, OH, Angela Sue (Ed) Beekman of Mt. Sterling, OH, Connie (Charles) Cassell of Washington C.H. OH; sons, Floyd (Jeri), Mike (Danette) and Randy (Bonnie) Williams all of Mt. Sterling; sister, Etta Johnson of Sandusky; half-sister, Sybil McNabb of Dayton; half-brothers, Clarence (Margie) Brown and Lawrence (Juanita) Brown; 27 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of good friends. Family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8pm at THE PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME 331 W. Main St. Mt. Sterling, OH. Funeral Service will take place 11am Friday at The Freewill Baptist Church 15938 Cook Ave. Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 with Rev. Densil Wright officiating. Interment Madison Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice, London, OH.
