Marilyn R. Bowsher

Marilyn R. Bowsher, age 91, a former long-time resident of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, met her Saviour on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Meadow Grove Care Center in Grove City, Ohio. Born in Pickaway County, Ohio, to the late Luther and Lacy Dean. She was a graduate of Scioto Township High School. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leslie “Peachie” Bowsher, her son James Allen Bowsher, half-brothers Kenneth and Frances Dean, Jr., brother Luther Dean, Jr., and her sister Linda Gripp. She is survived by her sister Nancy Cook, daughter Debra (William) Marcum, sons David (Ruthy) Bowsher, Ronald Bowsher, Donald (Angie) Bowsher, and Kevin (Lori) Bowsher, many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marilyn’s nickname was “Babe” when she was growing up. She was a social butterfly at Meadow Grove Care Center and loved bingo, Elvis music, and crafts. She never met a stranger, and she would talk to everyone. Marilyn was very giving and kind. A great cook, too! She smiled all the time. In her younger years, before her marriage, she loved working on the family farm. After her marriage, Marilyn stayed home to raise her growing family. Later, she worked in food service at Orient and Columbus State Institution. All loved her.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2026, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143 (740)-869-2777, where her Funeral Service will follow the visitation and begin at 12:00 p.m. TUESDAY. Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Pleasant Cemetery.
