Phyllis Virginia Morrison Kuhns, 71, of Orient, OH died on April 15, 2013. She was born November 4, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, PA to John Taylor Morrison and Henrietta Virginia (Leasure) Morrison and lived most of her early life in Pennsylvania. She married Richard Kent Kuhns on July 14, 1962 and they had three children.
Phyllis was trained at the Latrobe (PA) School of Nursing and spent all of her career in the medical field but her real passion was the arts. She played and sang music all of her life, teaching piano in PA and North Carolina. Later while living in Virginia Beach, VA she started folk painting and she and Rich, who cut out the media that she used, did many art shows throughout NC and VA.
Phyllis was a member of the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene.
She is preceded in death by her brother, John (Jack) Morrison, her parents and her husband of 48 years, Rich.
She is survived by three children, Virginia (Ginger) Pribble and Joan Davis, both of the Columbus, Ohio area, and Richard (Rick) Kuhns of Virginia Beach, VA and his wife Helen. She has 4 grandchildren, Tia Boyce of Columbus, OH, Colin Boyce of FL, and Morrgyn and Tristan Kuhns of Virginia Beach, VA.
A Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Dortha Ross officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 11 – 1 at the funeral home.
