Robert J.Clifton, age 68 of Orient died Monday, June 6, 2016 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born March 14, 1948 in London, Ohio.
Robert proudly served in the US Army 1968-1970, as a member of the 4th infantry division, Vietnam War veteran, earning a bronze star medal with valor, as well as numerous other commendations. Graduate of The Plains High School, Class of 1966 of which he will be sadly missed by classmates at the 50 year reunion on June 10th; member of the Derby United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Dorothy (McHenry) Clifton; brother Jim Clifton and sister Barbara Hatfield.
Married the love of his life, Debbie (Tracy) Clifton on July 5, 1970; also survived by son Tracy (Shaney) Clifton of Grove City; daughter Kelly (Zach) Durban of West Jefferson; three grandchildren, his pride and joy, Tyrus Clifton, Hunter McCoy and Audrey McCoy; sisters Gloria Johnson and Carolyn Ball, several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. The interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery with military honors.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m.
