Roger Johnson

Roger D Johnson, age 71 of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus.  He was born March 20, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio. A 1964 high school graduate of Wheelersburg, Ohio; formerly employed with Versa Corp. and Viaquest Inc.; member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling; Palestine Masonic Lodge #158 F & AM of Marysville; DeMolay Dad; Volunteer Fireman for Vernon Township Fire Dept. in Larrie, Ohio; Roger loved welding, playing cards, camping and doing carpenter work of all kinds. Preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Gladys (Brown) Johnson; father-in-law Jim Smith; siblings Wilma Jean Lemon and Ronnie Johnson. Survived by wife of 27 years, Kim; children Gordon (Kelly) Johnson, Richard (Julie) Johnson, Melissa (Kevin) Vollrath, Ashley Johnson (Bryan Sockol); siblings Kenneth Johnson and Patricia (Johnson) Ervin; 7 grandchildren Gordon Johnson, Jr., Heather Johnson, Kayla (Michael) Bell, Alex Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Ethan Vollrath, and Olivia Vollrath; great-granddaughter Marlie Johnson. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling.  Rev. Jay Moyer officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery.  Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main St., Mt.
