Rose Mary (Longcoy) Kennedy

Rose Mary (Longcoy) Kennedy of Mt. Sterling died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Hilliard, Ohio. She was born February 1, 1936 in Lodi, Ohio, to Elmer Nathaniel and Cecilia Marie (Dailey) Longcoy. Rose was proceeded in death by her loving husband John Hugh Kennedy (2014), stepdaughter Debbie Saunders-Miller (2022), stepdaughter-in-law Grace Kennedy (2023), sisters Leona, Marie, Netta, and her parents.

Rose is survived by her daughters Billie (Rod) Yoder of Quincy and Julie Kennedy of Millersburg; stepson John M. Kennedy of Akron; brother Lewis Longcoy of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren: Sonya (Vince) Nixon, Jason (Lindsey) Yoder, Victoria (Zane) Grafton, Tyler (Tori) Trbovich, Tate (Heather) Kennedy, Shay (Emilie) Kennedy, William (Jennifer) Saunders, and great-grandchildren: Everly Nixon, Rhett Grafton, Chaiston Kennedy, Jaxon Cade, Colson Kennedy, William and Emily Saunders.

Rose graduated salutatorian from Polk High School in 1954 and then worked at Grange Insurance in Columbus. Rose and John married on February 28, 1960, and raised and trained quarter horses. Rose founded the Saddle Tramps 4-H Club and was club advisor for many years. Rose groomed dogs at home and for Dr. Gary Junk at his vet clinic in Washington Court House. Rose loved old hymns and bluegrass and frequented Mount Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree.

The family will receive friends at 4:00 pm on THURSDAY, July 24, 2025, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm. A private burial will be held at Pleasant Cemetery on Friday. In lieu of flowers the family asks you to consider donating to Sterling Joint Ambulance (P.O. Box 51, Mt.
