Suzanne W. Cartmille

Suzanne W. Cartmille, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away VERY unexpectedly on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Grove City Methodist Hospital. Suzanne was born August 29, 1946, at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Rupert and Ellen Woodward.

Suzanne graduated from The Plains High School in Mt. Sterling with the Class of 1964. She retired after 33.5 years of service with the Ohio Department of Transportation as a Federal Grants Coordinator III. She served as a 4-H Club Advisor for the CC Riders in Pickaway County and later the Saddle Tramps in Madison County. In addition, she was a very active member of the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church. She was proud to be a member of the Church Basement Ladies, who managed many fun events and yummy meals for the church. Suzanne served also as the Church Secretary for a few years as well as multiple committees. She was a proud Alto in the choir and director of the Hand Bell Choir.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Cartmille, Sr., her parents and other loved ones.

She is survived by Daughter and Son-In-Law, Connie and Ron Strebe, Stepson Joe Cartmille Jr, Sister and Brother-In-Law, Carole and Jim Stewart, nephew and niece, Brady and Heather Stewart and her children KC and Alex, Sister-In-Law Sally Harper, and the loves of her life, the Grandsons, Jonathon and Noah Strebe. She also leaves many friends and cousins to grieve her passing.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00a.m. on SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2026 at the Mount Sterling First United Methodist Church, 110 South London Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143. Suzanne’s family will greet friends before the service from 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m. SATURDAY at the church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Cemetery.

The Family will host everyone for food and fellowship at the Mt. Sterling Community Center, immediately following the ceremony at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Madison County 4-H, the Wounded Warrior Project, or any favorite charity. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this gut-wrenching time especially the staff at Grove City Methodist Hospital and Jackson Township First Responders.
