Thomas “Tom” Justice, born August 29, 1957, in Columbus, passed away on May 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, John Justice; his mother, Carolyn Jeanne Justice; and his sister, Kathy Emrick.
He leaves behind his one and only son, Derek (Jessica) Justice; two beloved grandsons, Bedile and De’Von; and two foster grandsons who held a very special place in his heart. He is also survived by his siblings Brenda (Dean) Reedy, Lisa Caudy, Robert (Donzella) Justice, and Phil Emrick, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Tom was a retired corrections officer and attended Mt Sterling Church of the Nazarene.
If you knew Tom, you knew his love for animals was a huge part of who he was. He was always bringing home another horse or goat and found great joy in caring for them. He proudly served as a 4-H advisor for many years in Fayette County, sharing his knowledge and love of animals with local youth. For several years, Tom also owned racehorses that competed across Ohio, something he truly enjoyed. He loved attending goat shows and often talked about one day getting back into showing goats himself.
Tom will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for animals, and the simple joy he found in farm life. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories and stories he created with those who loved him will live on forever. Family will receive friends from 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m. on SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2026 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143 where his Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00p.m. Reverend Philip Starr, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to OhioHealth Kobacker House in Tom’s memory
