Verl W. Wilson, age 82, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Verl was born at home in Mt. Sterling to the late Melvina and Roy Wilson and was a graduate of Mt. Sterling High School, Class of 1960. Immediately after high school, Verl joined the United States Air Force, beginning a 25 ½ year career before his retirement as a Tech Sgt in 1983. He married the love of his life, Linda (Rader) Wilson and together they raised their family in Mt. Sterling. Always quick with a joke and making everyone smile, Verl was well-loved by all who knew him and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved fishing and hunting and always took care of his family. He would help anyone in need. Proud of his military service, Verl was a life-member of AMVETS Post 2256, Circleville, VFW Post 8198, Grove City and the American Legion Post 417, Mt. Sterling. Verl is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Linda Wilson, his daughters: Cheryl, Terri (Ted), and Denese; his grandchildren: Wayne, Verl, Tabitha, Linda, Mallory, Chris, Tina, Tiffany, and Jerald; his great-grandchildren: Travall, Trayton, Addy, Nevaeh, Nick, Tommy, Brady, Zephyr, Ariston, Bryden, Ashton, Bailey, Javion, Raelynn, River, and Ryder; his brother Darwin (Beverly) Wilson; and many other loving family members and friends.
An “Open House” to celebrate Verl’s life will be held beginning at 4:00p.m. on MONDAY, JULY 7, 2025 at the AMERICAN LEGION POST 417, 27 Clark Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 (740)-869-2795. Military Honors will be rendered at 5:00p.m.
